Chemical Peels Demystified: What to Expect at Every Step

Chemical peels have an intimidating reputation, but modern formulations are far more controlled and predictable than their predecessors. At Waxing for Women, we use medical-grade peels calibrated to your specific skin concerns — whether that’s hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, or early signs of aging.

The process begins with a thorough skin analysis. We assess your Fitzpatrick skin type, current product regimen, and any contraindications. Based on this, we select from three peel categories: superficial (glycolic/lactic acid, 20-30% concentration), medium (TCA 15-25%), or combination peels that layer acids for targeted depth control.

During the treatment, you’ll feel a tingling or warming sensation that lasts 2-5 minutes depending on the peel depth. Our specialists monitor your skin’s response in real-time and neutralize immediately if needed. Post-treatment, we apply a calming serum and mineral SPF, and send you home with a specific aftercare protocol.

Results typically appear within 5-7 days as the treated layer sheds and reveals fresh, evenly pigmented skin beneath. For optimal results, we recommend a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
